Here she comes, you can’t avoid it, there is someone almost right in front of you and you KNOW they’re about to talk about something you are not into... here is what you do

Be really friendly, listen carefully to what the person you want to avoid is saying

Gasp, then tell them that you have to call [insert person’s name]

As you go, say something about the first thing that they said to you - just reference what they talked about so they don't feel bad.
